Why Your Plan Was Cancelled: Health Insurance and the Affordable Care Act

There is an odd reason why millions of Americans were canceled their health plans in 2013 and, as explained in a new video with Robert Graboyes of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, millions more will lose their plans in the next years.

Insurance coverage for Americans will remain in permanent turmoil because the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that all plans conform to cutter designs called "metal levels." (The levels-bronze, silver, gold and platinum-refer to the percentage of medical expenses that a particular plan pays). The video also explains that families may have to change plans several times because, as circumstances change, a plan that fits a plan the first year may not fit at any level in a later year.

Check out Dr. Graboyes' opinion piece on this topic (if you like his plan, you still can not keep it) and subscribe to his health care policy updates.
